Also operated as The Milner Hotel (1938-1959)
The Metropolitan Hotel was a Winfield Scott hotel. All of the rooms had hot water and a window. It was originally planned to be a five-story building but initially only three stories were built. Two more stories were added in 1908. The hotel had a separate entrance for ladies that featured green Georgia marble. Following the opening of the Blackstone and Hotel Texas the Metropolitan Hotel went into decline and was sold in 1938 to The Milner Hotel Company. In 1959 the hotel was torn down and the block was used for Hotel Texas parking. The parking lot is the site of JFK’s morning speech on the day of his assassination in Dallas. The site now is a public park featuring The JFK tribute.
